CG Labs are able to utilise a variety of different drones to capture data depending on the operating environment and the nature of the task.

Typically most inspection and thermography is undertaken using multirotor drones capable of carrying different payloads to capture  day/night/hyperspectral and LIDAR data.

For larger areas, fixed wing drones have a greater endurance and increased data capture capabilities.

The ability to fly for 60-90 mins allows for large areas to be flown in a single day. Depending on the environment, VTOL or traditional fixed wing drones can be deployed

Fixed Wing

Infrared sensors coupled with Thermographic analysis allows for water ingress, leak detection and heat loss detection in building structures.

Drones allow for detailed inspection of structures at height without the need for costly scaffolding, mechanical access whilst reducing risk for operatives.

Photogrammetry is defined as “the use of photography in surveying and mapping to ascertain measurements between objects” Using suitable GCPs, sub centimetre accuracy is achievable.

Hyper & Multispectral sensors can aid in the analysis of crop health and soil conditions allowing farmers to make informed decisions on the use of herbicides and pesticides.

Ground Capture

To complement our drone based data capture, CG Labs also utilise ground based equipment. This can be combined with aerial data or used as a standalone source. Laser/imaging laser scanners capture millions of data points per second to build up highly detailed and extremely accurate point clouds of the scanned subject. This allows the 3D space to be imported into a digital format to add to existing or new digital models of the subject.

Inspection

CG Labs has a fully equipped digital data capture service, allowing us to come to your premises and collect the environmental data necessary for your project through drone or ground based scanning. We can also deploy sensors to collect smart data, or in some cases manually compile traditional engineering schematics and drawings to gather required data.

Using a caged system, drones can be used for inspections of confined spaces without causing damage to to asset being inspected (or the drone itself).

Agriculture

The field of precision agriculture can benefit for drone based applications. Hyper and near spectral sensors allow a drone to capture the spectral data within each pixel. This allows the the analysis of chlorophyll and colour changes within foliage. This in turn allows an accurate picture of crop health to be gained allowing targeted and effective remedial action to be undertaken to help combat disease, infestation and poor health.

Laser/Lidar

LiDAR (Light and Data Ranging) uses aerial and/or ground based sensors to capture an image of an object or feature. Using ultraviolet, visible or near infrared light, a laser beam can map features of an image to a very high degree of accuracy. There are a vast amount of applications for this type of imaging from mining, geophysics, soil science, mapping, surveying, forestry, agriculture, and the planning of wind and solar sites.
